What to do if you lose your bank card or phone abroad

We know it can be stressful, but try not to worry if you lose your phone or bank card whilst you’re abroad. We’ve put together a list of some of the helplines you will need to call should this happen. Remember: don’t delay, make sure you report it straight away!

Mobile phone companies

Make sure you call your operator straight away if you lose your phone whilst you’re abroad. Most companies say you must report the incident to the police within 24 hours to be able to access any insurance. Here are the numbers for some of the main mobile network operators:

Some mobile networks also have an online reporting service.

Calling the UK from abroad

To call the UK from abroad, call +44 or 0044 followed by the rest of the number without the first zero. 
Example: to call the UK mobile number 07779 678910 you should call +447779 678910 OR 00447779 678910
