Make a difference as a conservation volunteer in Africa

Volunteer with one of the many wildlife projects in Africa that African Conservation Experience offer to make a difference during your gap year.

Work with the wildlife

Join one of our conservation projects in Africa during your gap year and up close and personal with amazing wildlife while making a real difference and helping to preserve some of Africa’s most iconic animals! There are many ways in which you can become involved, depending on what type of project suits your interests best.

Wildlife Care and Rehabilitation

Do you love all animals and want to get really close and hands-on with African wildlife? As a conservation volunteer in Africa at one of our wildlife care and rehabilitation projects you will look after injured, orphaned and abandoned wildlife. Your days will be filled with all aspects of wildlife care, from feeding rounds to cleaning, maintaining and building enclosures, creating enrichment activities for animals, hand-rearing orphans and helping with nursing injured animals.

Wildlife Conservation and Management

Are you inspired by wildlife documentaries and dream of tracking and observing wild animals or working as a game ranger? The wildlife conservation and management projects give you the opportunity to really experience the wilderness in Africa and get to know the most iconic wildlife species like rhino, lion, cheetah and leopard in their natural habitat. Protecting these species is a complex task, so there are lots of different areas you can be involved in, from assisting in the capture and relocation of wildlife to monitoring rhino populations to protect them from poaching, helping with managing a Big 5 Safari Reserve or tracking elephants, lions and leopards at a field research project in the Botswana wilderness.
