Wine tasting: paradise for wine lovers
Where can good wines be enjoyed more than where the vines grow? Viticulture was brought to Rhineland-Palatinate by the Romans over 2,000 years ago and has been thriving here ever since. The region produces around 70 percent of all German wine and is a real paradise for wine lovers. Wineries are the best places to enjoy the light, fruity and delicate wines grown in the excellent Rhineland-Palatinate soil.
Culture and events: historical and modern at the same time!
Rhineland-Palatinate is home to 4 UNESCO World Heritage sites: Upper Middle Rhine Valley, the city of Trier on the Moselle, Speyer Cathedral and the Limes (former Roman border line). More than 500 castles, castle ruins, palaces and fortresses can be found here. Besides, Rhineland-Palatinate is never boring with more than 1,000 cultural, wine, beer, local and public festivals. An example is the “Rhine in Flames” event, which sees the Rhine Valley lit up in the fascinating fireworks!
